Racist, Sexist and Offensive Jokes

What do you tell a woman with two black eyes?

  • Nothing, you already told the bitch twice.

  • What do you call a woman with one black eye?

  • A fast learner.

  • Do you know hundreds of women are battered everyday?

  • And here I’ve been eating them raw this whole time.

  • What do you call a black man flying a plane?

  • A pilot you racist.

  • What’s the last thing you hear a redneck say?

  • Hey fellers watch this!

  • What’s better than winning two gold medals at the Special Olympics?

  • Not being retarded.

  • Why did Jesus die on the cross?

  • He forgot the safe word.

  • What do you call a lesbian with fat fingers?

  • Well hung.

  • How do two lesbian vampires say goodbye?

  • See you next month.

  • How do you confuse Helen Keller?

  • Rearrange the furniture.

  • What’s the hardest part of a vegetable?

  • The wheelchair.

  • What's small, and shiny, and blue?

  • A baby with a plastic baggy over its head.

  • What do you call a guy with his hand up a camel’s ass?

  • An Afghani mechanic

  • What do gay men and Cardinal fans have in common?

  • They all love Pujols

  • A man comes home from work to find his girlfriend crying and packing her belongings to move out.
    “Honey what are you doing?”
“I just found out today that you’re a pedophile.”
“Whoa wait a minute. That’s an awfully big word for a 10 year old.”

I’m sure you’ve heard most of these before. Some of you have probably even told these jokes or similar ones.

    So be honest …

Do you find any of these humorous?

Do you find some more offensive than others?

    Which ones and why so?

It’s interesting how some jokes, depending on the subject matter, can be funny and acceptable even though they are indeed offensive. Why is that?

Is it okay to laugh at a retarded joke more so than a black joke? Hell, people often use the phrase ‘that’s retarded’ or ‘that’s gay’ with a negative connotation. They’ve become common phrases in our culture and people utter this all the time without batting an eye or thinking about how it’s offensive. From what I’ve noticed calling something ‘gay’ is becoming less acceptable these days, much more so than something or someone being called retarded. Why? Is it because of the gay rights movement? Because people are speaking up and out more? Think about how many people would, and do, voice their opinion that it’s not right to use the gay phrase over the retarded phrase.

Telling a black joke will almost instantly get you labeled as a racist while blond and lawyer jokes are a dime a dozen. They’re all attacks on people’s characters though. Okay, I get it that blacks have been oppressed and treated inhumanely yadda yadda yadda but so have lots of other groups, races, cultures, and religions. The Jews and Japanese were put into camps, Christians were fed to lions, and the Irish had the potato famine.

Redneck jokes – does anyone get mad at those? Even the rednecks? Do they even care about being called a redneck?

Why are the sexist woman jokes funny?

Pedophile jokes are certainly gross and offensive but lots of people tell them and laugh at them; especially when you attach the name Michael Jackson to them.

Why is it socially acceptable to laugh at certain jokes as opposed to others?

Is it because the squeaky wheel gets the grease? What do we hear about the most? We hear about equal treatment to African Americans more so than any other race. I would also take a guess that jokes against them are more frowned upon than any other race. Maybe we didn’t enslave Mexicans like we did African Americans but hell; we’re not treating them all that great today are we? I’m still guessing that a Mexican joke would go over better than a black joke though.

We hear about equal rights for gays more so than equal rights for women. Yes, I know women have come further than gay people in terms of equality but woman still have to fight for it till this day. Are gay jokes considered more offensive because gay rights and being accepted as equals are more heard of today, more prevalent? Back in the day of Woman’s Suffrage maybe these sexist jokes were more offensive than they are today. Of course the 'What do you do when the dishwasher breaks down? Kick her in the ass' joke wouldn't have been around yet.

Perspective also plays a big part in what you will find funnier and acceptable. If you actually know someone who is retarded you may not find those jokes funny at all. If you are Jewish or if you’ve had a baby that’s died from a baggy over it's heard, laid on a bed of nails, spear through any body part, played with a chainsaw, etc., those jokes may be unacceptable while you will laugh at a good retarded joke.

People generally don’t take up specific causes until it hits close to home. Michael J. Fox never once lobbied for Parkinson’s Disease till he had it. He probably always thought it was a terrible thing but probably never gave it a thought – unless it ran in his family. Then he gets diagnosed with it and all the sudden it becomes one of the most important things in his life. He starts talking about it and bringing attention to the cause. Perhaps he even laughed a time or two at a Parkinson's joke and God decided to have the last laugh. Take this lesson to heart when laughing at black, Jewish, blonde, lawyer, and retarded jokes. You too may wake up one day and bam! You're African American.

It seems society deems for us what offensive jokes are okay to laugh at and which ones are not. And as society changes so does the placement of our sense of humor.

Yep, I think it depends on who you are as well. I find the black eye jokes funny as hell but the priest/little boy jokes make me cringe. I also think it has to do a lot of with personal experience. Example: you have known people in abusive relationships so that subject to you is just not funny since you have personal memories attached to that subject. I've known 3 people who have been abused by clergy members so those jokes are off limits to me.

You've just got to take them for what they are. Jokes. I have a retarded cousin, some black friends that i tell black jokes to, and I'm Catholic (little boy-priest jokes). None of them offend me they just make me laugh.
